How the Bahía Surf Trip Works
Our Bahía surf trip takes you from Sayulita to the breaks along the Punta de Mita coastline. After a scenic drive south to Punta de Mita, we hop on a small boat to reach one of the surf spots inside the bay — waves that are only accessible by boat and known for their longer rides and clean, open faces.
Compared to the breaks around Sayulita, the waves in Bahía offer a different experience and are best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers looking for a true surf adventure.
1. Meet in Sayulita
We begin the trip at Marea Surf School in Sayulita, where you’ll get your surfboard, rash guard, and everything you need for the session. Once everyone is ready, we load the boards and start the journey down the coast toward Punta de Mita.
2. Scenic Jungle Drive
From Sayulita we drive about 25 minutes south along the coast, passing beautiful jungle landscapes on the way to Punta de Mita
3. Boat Ride to Bahia
At Punta de Mita we load the boards onto the boat and head out into Bahía. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes and brings us to one of the boat-access surf breaks in the bay, with beautiful views of the peninsula and surrounding coastline.
4. Surf Session
Spend about 3 hours surfing in the bay. These waves are best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers who want longer rides and more powerful sections.
5. Return to Punta de Mita
After the session we hop back on the boat for the short ride to Punta de Mita. From there we load the boards onto the vehicles and drive back to Sayulita, finishing the adventure with salty hair, tired arms, and the feeling of a great surf session in the bay.
Every Bahía surf trip is slightly different depending on the waves and conditions, but the goal is always the same: finding great waves and enjoying the adventure along the Punta de Mita coastline.
