Terms & cancellation policy.

Ocean & weather

Surfing takes place in natural ocean conditions, which are beyond our control.

We only cancel a lesson if our instructors decide the ocean or weather conditions are unsafe.

If Marea Surf School cancels due to unsafe conditions or operational reasons, you can choose to reschedule or receive a full refund.

If you decide to end your lesson early because of personal preference, surf conditions or weather, no refund is given.

Booking & deposit

A $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) deposit per person is required when you book, to secure your spot. The remaining balance is due in cash (MXN) on the day of your activity, before it starts.

Deposits are non-refundable.

Changes to your booking (activity type, group size, date, etc.) can be requested more than 48 hours before your activity, subject to availability. A change is only confirmed once Marea has confirmed it in writing.

Within 48 hours of your activity, bookings are final. No changes or downgrades to activity type or group size are possible, and the full balance for the originally booked activity remains due.

Late arrivals, no-shows and cancellations result in the loss of the deposit.

Bookings can be transferred to another person.

Early morning trips (7 a.m.)

Early morning surf trips leave daily at 7 a.m. for groups of 4 or more, at the same price as our standard 2 p.m. trips.

A $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) deposit per person is required when you book, to reserve your spot. Deposits are non-refundable per person: if a participant cancels, their deposit is forfeited, regardless of notice given.

The remaining balance must be paid in full, online or in person at our shop, at least 48 hours before departure. Paying the full balance confirms your spot.

Changes to group size, activity type or departure date can be requested more than 48 hours before departure, subject to availability, and must be confirmed in writing by Marea. If the group drops below the 4-person minimum, the trip may still run at Marea's discretion.

Within 48 hours of departure, no changes or downgrades can be made. The full balance for the originally booked group size and activity remains due, regardless of no-shows, cancellations or last-minute changes.

Reservations with an unpaid balance at the 48-hour mark are automatically canceled, and all deposits are forfeited.

Packages & multi-day bookings

For multi-day packages, a $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) deposit per person, per lesson, is required when you book, to secure your spot. Deposits are non-refundable.

The remaining balance is due in cash (MXN) on the first day of your package.

Changes to your package (dates, group size, activity type, etc.) can be requested more than 48 hours before your first session, subject to availability, and are only confirmed once Marea has confirmed them in writing. After that, no changes can be made and the full balance for the originally booked package remains due.

Once a package has started, it is non-refundable. A package counts as started once the first session has been completed.

Unused sessions can be transferred to another person, but must be used within 30 days of the original start date. After 30 days, unused sessions expire and cannot be refunded or credited.

Prefer to pay as you go? You can also do a package lesson by lesson, subject to availability. Book each lesson online as usual ($500 MXN deposit per person, per lesson) and let us know at your first lesson that you'd like the package. You pay the regular lesson price for each lesson, and we take the package discount off your last lesson. All lessons must be taken within 30 days of your first lesson. Lessons booked this way aren't reserved in advance, so book each one as early as you can.

Medical emergencies

In case of a documented medical emergency, a refund, credit or reschedule may be considered, at Marea's sole discretion. Documentation must be sent within 48 hours of the missed activity.

Board rentals

Full payment for board and equipment rentals is due on the first rental day.

Rentals are non-refundable once paid.

Damage fees are listed in the waiver, which must be signed before any rental.

Liability & safety (waiver required)

All participants must read and sign the Release of Liability and Waiver before any activity (surfing, hiking, snorkeling, boat tours, transportation, etc.).

Before signing, you must understand that:

• Activities involve risk, including but not limited to waves, currents, boats, uneven terrain, wildlife and transport hazards.
• You accept these risks and release Marea Surf School from liability.
• You authorize medical assistance in emergencies, at your own expense.
• You consent to the use of photos and videos for promotional purposes.
