Why Surf at La Lancha Beach?
La Lancha Beach is one of the most beautiful surf spots near Sayulita.
Surrounded by jungle and mangroves, this hidden beach offers a relaxed surf atmosphere and fun waves for surfers of all levels. The sandy bottom creates forgiving waves that are great for beginners while in the main breaks offering enjoyable rides for more experienced surfers.
The walk to the beach takes you along a scenic jungle path where you may spot birds, crabs hiding in their holes, and other coastal wildlife.
During certain seasons, surfers even see rays, dolphins, whales offshore, or sea turtles along the coast, making the trip to La Lancha a true nature experience.

What the Surf Trip Looks Like
Our surf trip from Sayulita to La Lancha Beach is one of the most popular experiences we offer.
It is designed to be relaxed and fun, giving you time to enjoy the waves, the beach, and the journey through one of the most beautiful parts of the Riviera Nayarit.
1. Meet in Sayulita
We meet at our surf school in Sayulita where you'll get your board, rash guard, and everything you need for the trip.
2. Scenic Jungle Drive
From Sayulita we drive about 25 minutes south along the coast, passing beautiful jungle landscapes on the way to La Lancha.
3. Short Walk Through the Jungle
Once we arrive, a short walk along a jungle path leads us to the beach, where the waves and beautiful scenery of La Lancha await.
4. Time to Surf
Enjoy the waves at La Lancha Beach. Depending on your experience level, our instructors will give tips and guidance before you hit the water to help you get the most out of the surf session.
5. Relax and Enjoy the Beach
After surfing, there’s time to relax on the beach, enjoy the scenery, and soak in the laid-back atmosphere before heading back to Sayulita.
Every trip is a little different depending on the waves and conditions, but the goal is always the same: fun waves and a great surf experience.

La Lancha
Most Common Spot
Our most common destination. La Lancha offers fun left and right waves breaking over a sandy bottom, making it a great surf spot for beginners and experienced surfers alike.
Burros
Burros is a long right-hand point break known for smooth walls and longer rides, popular with intermediate surfers
Stinky’s
Stinky’s is a well-known reef break near Punta de Mita that has long, mellow right-hand waves. It works best on larger north or south swells and lower tides.
El Anclote
Located in Punta de Mita, El Anclote is a mellow point break that works well when conditions are smaller. Soft long and consistent waves throughout the year
Litibú
On smaller days we may surf Litibú, a fun beach break that can offer clean and playful waves.

We meet at our surf shop in Sayulita, where we check everyone in, choose surfboards, and get ready for the trip. From there we drive together to La Lancha Beach.
Departure Time

Because surf conditions can change, the exact departure time may occasionally be adjusted to ensure the best waves and safest experience.
Morning trips are available on request. Minimum 4 surfers required.

The full surf trip lasts about 4 hours, including transportation, surf time, and time to relax on the beach.

Where To Find Us
Our surf shop is located right in the center of Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico, alongside the river and just a short walk from the main beach.
To find us, simply walk to the main bridge in town and follow the river toward the ocean. We are located in the first block on your right-hand side, just before the intersection.
Thanks to our central location, the shop is easy to reach from anywhere in Sayulita and within walking distance from most hotels, hostels, and vacation rentals.
Marea Surf School is a locally owned surf school in Sayulita, offering surf lessons for beginners and surfers of all levels visiting the Riviera Nayarit.
