The beach
A jungle beach with room to learn.
La Lancha sits on the Punta de Mita coastline, a short walk through the jungle from the road. A white sand beach, clear water and waves with room for everyone.

Every lesson includes: open-top truck transport, 90 minutes with an experienced local instructor, surfboard and rash guard. Kids welcome from age 5 (basic swimming required).
The 7 a.m. trip is for groups of 4 or more. Smaller groups, please book 2 p.m.

Yes. The sandy bar is a great place to learn, and many guests choose La Lancha for their very first lesson. Your instructor picks the right part of the beach for your level.

Every day at 2 p.m., any group size. There’s also a 7 a.m. departure for groups of 4 or more, often the calmest water of the day.

The 7 a.m. trip runs for groups of 4 or more. If fewer than 4 people book it, we’ll contact you to move your lesson to 2 p.m.

About 4 hours, from leaving our shop to getting back to Sayulita, including the truck ride, the jungle walk and your 90-minute lesson.

A La Lancha lesson is for anyone who can’t surf on their own yet: you get full coaching in the water. The La Lancha surf trip is for surfers who already catch waves on their own: transport, a board and a short beach briefing from a local guide, then the waves are yours.

Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel and water. Bring some cash if you’d like to tip your instructor, and leave valuables at your accommodation.

You choose your spot when you book, and it can’t be changed last minute. Not sure which suits you? Message us before booking and we’ll help you decide.

Conditions change during the day. If La Lancha isn’t working, we check other breaks along the Punta de Mita coast. If we can’t surf anywhere and come back without surfing, you can reschedule or get a full refund.
