MAREA SURF SCHOOL CANCELLATION POLICY

¡Hola!

We are a small, locally/family owned surf school in Sayulita.
Our instructors show up for every booking, rain or shine — and last-minute changes and/or cancellations directly affect their livelihood and ours. Our policies exist to protect that, and we appreciate your understanding.
 
That said, we're always human about it — if something comes up, reach out and we'll do our best to find an alternative together.

Surfing takes place in natural ocean conditions, which are beyond our control.

Lessons will only be canceled if ocean or weather conditions are deemed unsafe by our instructors.

 

If Marea Surf School cancels due to unsafe conditions or operational reasons, you may choose to reschedule or receive a full refund.

If you decide to end your lesson early due to personal preference, surf conditions, or weather, refunds will not be issued.

 
Booking & Deposit

A $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your spot.

The remaining balance is due in cash (MXN) on the day of your activity, before it begins.


Deposits are non-refundable. Changes to your booking (activity type, group size, date, etc.) are welcome more than 48 hours before your activity, subject to availability. Changes are only confirmed upon written acknowledgment from Marea.
Within 48 hours of your activity, bookings are final. No changes or downgrades to activity type or group size are permitted and the full balance for the originally booked activity remains due.

Late arrivals, no-shows, or cancellations will result in the loss of the deposit.

Lessons are transferable to another individual.

Early Morning Trips (7 AM)

Early morning surf trips are available on request for groups of 4 or more. Pricing is the same as our standard 2 PM trips.

A $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve your spot. Deposits are non-refundable per person — if a participant cancels, their deposit is forfeited regardless of notice given.

The remaining balance must be paid in full online or in person at our shop at least 48 hours before departure. Payment of the full balance confirms your spot.

Changes to your booking are welcome more than 48 hours before departure, subject to availability, and must be confirmed in writing by Marea. This includes changes to group size, activity type, or departure date. If the group drops below the 4-person minimum, the trip may still run at Marea's discretion.

Within 48 hours of departure, no changes or downgrades can be made. The full balance for the originally booked group size and activity remains due regardless of no-shows, cancellations, or last-minute changes.

Reservations with unpaid balances at the 48-hour mark will be automatically cancelled and all deposits forfeited.

Packages & Multi-Day Bookings

For multi-day packages, a $500 MXN (approx. $25 USD) per person, per lesson deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your spot. Deposits are non-refundable.

The remaining balance is due in cash (MXN) on the first day of your package.

Changes to your package (dates, group size, activity type, etc.) are welcome more than 48 hours before your first session, subject to availability. Changes are only confirmed upon written acknowledgment from Marea. After that, no changes can be made and the full balance for the originally booked package remains due.

Once a package has started, it is non-refundable. A package is considered started once the first session has been completed.

Unused sessions may be transferred to another person but must be used within 30 days of the original start date. Unused sessions expire after 30 days and cannot be refunded or credited.

Medical Emergencies

Refunds, credits, or reschedules may be considered, at Marea's sole discretion, in cases of documented medical emergencies. Documentation must be submitted within 48 hours of the missed activity.


Rental Policy
  • Full payment for board rentals and equipment is due the first rental day.

  • Rentals are non-refundable once paid.

  • Damage fees are outlined in the waiver form, which must be signed before any rental.

By confirming your booking and submitting your deposit, you agree to these terms.

 

Liability & Safety (Waiver Required)

All participants must read and sign the Release of Liability and Waiver before any activity (surfing, hiking, snorkeling, boat tours, transportation, etc.).

Before signing, you must understand:

  • Activities involve risk, including but not limited to waves, currents, boats, uneven terrain, wildlife, and transport hazards.

  • You accept these risks and release Marea Surf School from liability.

  • You authorize medical assistance in emergencies at your expense.

  • You consent to use of photos/video for promotional purposes.
